Regusta Hawkins owns and operates a Newcastle Photography Service with a focus on client comfort, and relaying a personal connection through her photography.
Photography is an especially equipment heavy field, and Regusta had a business requirement to simplify and standardise her kit. With a custom set of lens adaptors, she could minimise the equipment needed to complete the shoot.
Working with Regusta, we found that the design and fabrication of one 'F' to 'Z' adaptor would allow the use of her full range of lenses with a single camera. Care was taken to ensure distance from the lens connection to the mirror was within manufacturer's specification, and correct fitment and strength of proprietary connections to prevent equipment damage.
"I am very grateful for the quick, cost effective solution. The adapter works great and fits perfectly while being surprisingly durable.
Andrew is very easy to deal with and understands client’s needs, I highly recommend his services and wish him great success."

MONEx Electronics
MONEx manufactures explosion protected equipment for use in underground mining. With this type of equipment, particular care must be applied to electrical clearances. MONEx has a manufacturing process involving the solder connection of a pin through PCB, housed in a stainless steel gland.
An assembly jig was designed and printed in heat-resistant resin, integrating the female socket connector to ensure conformity of pin position. An economic build quantity of 5 units in a batch was considered in the design.
An assembly improvement was identified to replace an inter-PCB plug connection with direct connect headers to prevent intermittent connection loss and particulate ingress. The PCB footprint was a non-standard pitch, and would have required a large time/cost commitment to redesign the PCB or petition a connector supplier for a custom part.
A spacer was designed to accommodate the pitch and distance between PCBs, as well as a tool to bend the pins to the required dimensions. The 3D print files were given to MONEx so that they could manufacture their own parts as needed after purchasing a low-cost SLA printer.
"Andrew has completed several projects for us, and has a sound understanding of our design requirements. These assembly tools and components were designed, manufactured, and delivered quick enough to be used in current projects. We have already seen quality improvements as a result."
